Emily Shilson is a 110-pound Augsburg wrestling. She is the first women's national titlist in program history.
High School career
Shilson competed for Maple Grove High School in seventh grade, Centennial High School (Circle Pines, Minn.) from eighth through 11th grades before transferring to Mounds View High School (Arden Hills, Minn.) for her senior season. With no girls sanctioned completion by the Minnesota State High School League, she competed primary against boys during her scholastic career.
In December 2013, Shilson picked up a varsity win by pinning Roseville's Conner Rohloff.[1] Shilson also received a forfeit victory against Dassel.[2]
As an eighth-grader during the 2014–15 season, Shilson wrestled varsity matches at 106 pounds.[3] In December 2014, she competed at the All Force Minnesota Christmas Tournament, where she went 1–2. including two losses during the State Team Championship while competing for Centennial.
In December 2015, she went 1–2 at the prestigious All Force Minnesota Christmas tournament. In 2016, Shilson finished third in section competition at 106 pounds, one spot away from qualifying for the individual state tournament. At the state team tournament, Shilson went 0–2.
In 2017, Shilson became only the second girl in Minnesota history to qualify for the boy's tournament in wrestling. There she lost her only match 7–4 against Patrick Hesse while competing in the 106-pound weight class.[4] In the team sectional tournament earlier in the season, she went 2–1 but Centennial didn't qualify for the state team tournament.
In 2018, she dropped a 6–2 decision to Blake West and in 2019 she lost 6–2 decision to Zachary Silvis in her other two state matches, both at 106 pounds. During both those seasons, she finished as top wrestler in her section.

Shilson spent her first two seasons at 109 pounds.
International career
2018
In 2018, Shilson won the 43-kilogram weight class at the 2018 Cadet World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
2019
Competing at the USA Wrestling Senior Nationals in December 2019, Shilson qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials scheduled for April 2020 by finishing fourth with a 4–2 record in the 50-kilogram weight class.[5] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Olympics were moved to 2021 and the Olympic trials moved to April 2021.
2020
In November 2020, Shilson captured two 50-kilogram titles on the same weekend: United World Wrestling Junior Nationals and USA Wrestling Under-23 Nationals.[6]
2021
By virtue of her fourth-place finish at the 2019 USA Wrestling Senior Nationals, Shilson qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in April 2021 for the rescheduled 2021 Olympics. She opened her 50-kilogram campaign with a win over Sage Mortimer via 2:51 fall. Shilson then dropped a 10–0 technical fall to Victoria Anthony, the eventual challenge tournament champion.[7] She then bounced back with a pair of 10–0 technical falls over Angelina Gomez and Aleeah Gould. Shilson ended the tournament with a 10–0 setback to Whitney Conder.
