Grant Parker is a former 157-pound wrestler for Augsburg College and one-time All-American. He placed seventh at the 2016 National Championships. In high school, Parker competed for Onalaska (Wis.) High School.

College career

2013–14 season

Parker made his Augsburg debut on Nov. 23, 2013 at the Auggie-Brute Open, going 0–2 in the 157-pound Silver Division. In a White Team match on November 26 against Ridgewater Community and Technical College, Parker won his first Augsburg match against Grant Mueller 5–2.[1] On Dec. 7., he went 0–2 in the 157 pound White Division at the Dragon Open, falling 11–8 to Brett Schurman (Northland) and then 5–3 to Division II wrestler Daniel Murakami of the host Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons.[2] He compiled a 15–18 record.[3]

2014–15 season

Through January 25, 2015, Parker has a 15–13 record.[4] Parker served as the starter at 157 lbs for part of the season while Gable Frandsen was out of the lineup, going 0–6 in dual meets between Jan. 4 and 10.

Parker competed in several tournaments at 157 pounds during the season. He began the season at the Auggie-Adidas Open on Nov. 22, going 3–1 to finish as the consolation-bracket winner. He started the day with a loss by pin to Sawyer Hoffman (MSU Mankato) in 1:31, before rebounding with three straight wins, a medical forfeit over Brandon Strong (unattached), an 11–10 in TB1 to Thomas Miller (Rochester CTC) and then finished the with a 2:53 pin over Charlton Benjamin (William Penn).[5]

At the St. Cloud State Holiday Inn/Husky Open, Parker went 2–2 and did not place. He opened the day with an 11–5 decision over Connor Hanson (Rochester CTC), but then lost a 5–1 decision to Div. II wrestler Lane Blasius (Augustana (S.D.)). He rebounded with a 6–0 decision over Dararius Gilmer (Rochester CTC) but lost an 11–3 to Brett Bradford (Rochester CTC) to end his tournament.[6]

In his next action at the Citrus Open, Parker went 4–2 to finish in fifth place. He began the day with a 1:50 pin over Clint Allen (Cornell), then dropped a 10–8 decision to Tom McNulty (John Carroll), but rebounded with a two wins, the first over Even Wallace (Oneonta State) by a 4–3 decision and then by a 6–1 decision over Jake Vincent (John Carroll). He then dropped a 6–2 decision to Aaron Engle and ended the day with medical forfeit victory over McNulty.[7]

Stepping in for Frandsen, Parker lost six dual bouts by decision: 5–3 to Bradyn Nieses (Augustana (S.D.)), 5–2 to Aaron Engle (Cornell), 4–3 to Tom Gerszewski (Wisconsin–Whitewater), 4–3 to Shawn Brew (Alma), 9–2 to sixth-ranked Jon Garrison (Mount Union), and finally a 7–3 match to Derek Weinmann (Wisconsin–La Crosse).[8]

At the Cornell Matman Open on Jan. 17, Parker went 4–2 to finish fourth. He began the day with a 2:37 pin over Clint Allen (Cornell), but then dropped a 3–1 sudden victory decision to ninth-ranked Michael Polizzi (Stevens Inst. of Tech.). He then reeled off three straight wins to reach the third-place match: a 4–3 decision over Dominic Chase (Wartburg), a 5–3 decision over Efosa Egoigbe (Wartburg) and then a 5–1 decision over David Kellogg (Grand View). In the third-place match, he lost a 6–5 decision to Jake Mize (Simpson).[9]

On Jan. 22, Parker claimed a 4:38 pin over Ozzie Miller (Ridgewater CTC) in a White Team match and then a forfeit victory over St. John's (Minn.) in another White Team match.
