Saatzer began the season listed at 149 pounds.[1] At the Auggie-Brute-Adidas Open on November 21, he went 3-1 to claim the second spot in the 141-pound gold division. In the first round, Saatzer pinned unattached wrestler Ben Bruyette 47 seconds into the second period. He then earned a 4-2 decision over Caleb Brus (Simpson) and then a 6-2 decision over Kevin Bokoski (Luther). In the finals match, he lost an 8-3 decision to Dakota Wesleyan's Jordan Harer.[2]
