He was granted a medical hardship by the NCAA.[3]

In the first round Roberts defeated Justin Marx (Central College) 12-5 and then Louis Mazetta (Luther College) 6-0 in the quarterfinals before upsetting top-seeded Tyler Mumbulo 5-2. In the finals, he lost a 5-1 decision to Buena Vista's Austin Mogg.[5] On November 25, Roberts earned a 6-2 decision over Division II opponent Al Meger of Augustana (S.D.).[6]

Nationals

Roberts competed at the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championships at 125 pounds as the seventh seed. He opened the tournament with a 8–4 decision over Zach Mueller (Wisconsin–Oshkosh) and then claimed a 5–4 decision to claim his first All American honors. In the semifinals, he was pinned by second-seeded Tyler Erdman (Elizabethtown). In the consolation semifinals, he won a sudden victory decision over Jayson Swanson (Luther) by a 9–7 margin. In the third-place match, he fell to fourth-seeded Jake Oster (Elmhurst), 7–0 to finish fourth.[7]

He finished the season with a record of 26–10.

In his first match, he defeated Jake Schramm (Univ. of Chicago) by a 12–1 major decision but fell to second-seeded Ben Presler (Concordia Moorhead) by a 14–2 margin. In the consolation semifinals, he again fell, this time by a 15–3 major decision to Sean Tomac (North Central). In the fifth-place match, he again defeated Schramm, this time by a 10–2 score.[8]
