Mark Akpaka is a former 149-pound wrestler for Augsburg. In his first year from 2012–13, he had a 10–15 record.

College career

First year (2012–13)

On Nov. 20, Akpaka made his varsity dual debut at 157 pounds with a 6–3 decision over Waldorf's Jade Jenson. His best performances of the season come on Dec. 1, when he finished fourth in the 149 pound White Division at the Dragon Open and another fourth-place finish at the Minnesota West CTC Worthington Open on Jan. 19. He finished the year with a 10–15 record.

Sophomore season (2013–14)

Akpaka started the year on Nov. 23 at the Auggie Brute opening, going 2–1 and sharing the 149 pound Silver Division fifth-place title with teammate Quade Zupko. He bagan the day with a 7–2 decision over Jacob Hickerson (St. John's), then fell in 6:21 to Deven Loepp (Rochester Comm. and Tech.) before advancing to the fifth-place match with an 8–1 decision over Josh Tyler (Upper Iowa).[1] On Dec. 7, Akpaka went 0–2 in the 149 pound Red Division at the Dragon Open, losing first by technical fall (17–2) to Div. II wrestler Jay Hildreth (St. Cloud State) and to by a 5–3 margin to Div. I wrestler Alex Blaney (North Dakota State University) in the second tiebreaker period.[2]
