Sam Bennyhoff is a former 133-pound Augsburg men's wrestler. He is currently a member of Augsburg men's coaching staff.
High School career
Bennyhoff competed for Mound-Westonka High School, qualifying for State five times, placing the final three of those. As eighth-grader in 2011, he qualified at 103-lb. AAA. As freshman in 2012, he qualified at 106 lbs. He placed second at 113 lbs the following year. As a junior, he took fifth at 120 lbs. As a senior, he placed third at 132 lbs.
As an eighth-grader in 2011, he won the 103-lb. Section 6 Class AAA Individual tournament to advance to the state meet,[1] where he went 0–1.
College career
2015–16 season
Bennyhoff began the season as the starter at 133 pounds.
2016–17 season
2017–18 season
Bennyhoff finished the season as national runner-up, falling in the NCAA Div. III title match at 133 to Wartburg's Brock Rathbun.
2018–19 season
Bennyhoff finished his Augsburg career with a 9-7 loss in the Blood Round — the name given to the consolation round where the winner becomes an All-American and the loser's season is over.
