About the Augsburg Wrestling Wiki The Augsburg Wrestling Wiki is a user-editable encyclopedia about the Augsburg University men's and women's wrestling programs. The Augsburg wrestling team, founded in 1949, and first coached by Edor Nelson had humble beginnings compared the later successes. It took 13 season for the team to achieve what was to later be a given: a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. In 1972, coach Ron Pfeffer guided the team to school-best seventh place national finish and Pat Marcy claimed the NAIA 150 pound title. In 1980, an Augsburg graduate from the year before, Jeff Swenson took over the program's reigns. Under Swenson, Augsburg claimed 10 National Championships and had 29 individual titlists. In 2007 after 25 years at the head of the program, Swenson retired as head coach with assistant coach Sam Barber taking the head job for a single season. Following Barber's departure, Mark Matzek, a former Augsburg national titlist and All-American led team. In Matzek's second season, the team claimed the 2010 National Championship with having three individual titlists. In 2014, Jim Mousloff was appointed head coach and won team titles in 2015 and 2019. March 9 - Augsburg finishes 19th at 2024 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships, Nina Makem finishes 8th at 155 lbs. March 2 - Augsburg win 2024 NCAA Div. III Upper Midwest Regional, send all 10 to Nationals. Feb. 25 - Auggie women finish fifth at NCWCW Region IV event, qualifying 3 to nationals.
