Hoialmen was a three-time All American, having placed in 1990, 1991 and 1993. He was a three-time MIAC champion, at 126 pounds in 1990 and at 134 pounds in 1992 and 1993. As a four-time national qualifier, he finished fourth at 126 pounds as freshman in 1990 and sixth national at 134 pounds at sophomore in 1991. He finished his career with 437 take downs, then a school record. Joe Hoialmen is a former wrestler for Augsburg College. In 1993, he won the 134-pound NCAA Division III national title.[1] Hoialmen is the co-head coach at Winona (Minn.) Senior High School.

High school career

Hoialmen wrestled for Winona (Minn.) Senior High School, graduating in 1989 as the 125-pound AA titlist. In 1987 he finished fifth at 98 pounds and in 1988 he was third at 112 pounds.[2]

College career

Senior High School.[4] He began his coaching career at Augsburg, returning as an assistant from 1994 to 1999 and spent the 2005–06 season at Apple Valley (Minn.) High School as an assistant[2] later spending time as an assistant with the Maple Grove (Minn.) High School wrestling program.[3]
