Quade Zupko is a 149-pound Augsburg wrestler.
First year (2013–14)
Zupko made his Augsburg debut on Nov. 23, 2013 at the Auggie-Brute Open, going 2–1 in the 149-pound Silver Division, sharing 5th Place with teammate Mark Akpaka. In a White Team match on November 26 against Ridgewater Community and Technical College, Zupko lost 4–2 to Zach Revier.[1] On Dec. 7, Zupko finished 5th with a 4–1 record in the 149 pound White Division of the Dragon Open. Zupko started the tournament with a 12–0 blanking of Deven Loepp (Rochester Community College), before falling 12–2 to Div. I wrestler Lucas Zilverberg (South Dakota State). He rebounded with three straight wins, 4–3 over Div. 1 wrestler Brandon Brunner (South Dakota State), 5–0 Trevor Scott (Rochester Community College) and a 2–1 sudden victory overtime win against Tyler Tischer (Unattached).[2]
On December 14, Zupko competed at the Wartburg Dick Walker Invitational, finishing 4–2 and placing fifth at 149 pounds. He opened the tournament with a 6–5 decision over Jacob Spadoni (Briar Cliff), but fell by pin in 2:43 to Adrian Collier (Dubuque) in the next round. In the consolation bracket, Zupko rebounded with two wins: 9–3 past Josh Harvey (Iowa Lakes) and 4-2 over Terrence Kubski (Dubuque). He dropped a 6-0 decision to Joseph Weber (Briar Cliff) and won an injury default over TJ Morrell (Coe).[3]
On January 5, Zupko made his varsity debut, losing 6–0 to St. Olaf's Carl Elmer.[4]
