Mark Matzek, a two-time individual national champion and three-time All-American wrestler during his Augsburg College career, has been the interim head coach of the Augsburg wrestling program since July 2008. In his first season as head coach, Matzek led his time to a second place finish at the 2009 National Championships, a first place finish at the 2009 Great Lakes Regional and a 11-2 Dual record in the 2008–09 season.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, no NCAA National tournaments were held for the men's team in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, the National Wrestling Coaches Association named All-American teams and 8 Augsburg wrestlers were named to the first team. In 2021, the NWCA held a post-season tournament in which 5 Augsburg wrestlers placed. |
